Mechanical

The Mechanical team is responsible for the design, analysis, and manufacturing of the car’s core systems, including the chassis, suspension, steering, and braking. They focus on creating a lightweight, reliable, and high-performance vehicle through precision engineering and hands-on fabrication.

  • Designing and manufacturing a stiff yet light main structural welded space-frame for the car, and also connecting the suspension, accumulator and motor pick-up points.

  • Responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing the car’s handling, stability, and overall performance. They focus on suspension, steering, weight distribution, and tire interactions to ensure the vehicle responds predictably and efficiently on track.

  • Develops the car's aerodynamic package which will provide the car more grip. Develops the front & rear wing package, sidepods, bodypanels, nosecone, and diffuser & floor.

  • Responsible for design and integration of the sensors, actuators, and drive-by-wire systems that enable the Formula Student car to operate autonomously, ensuring reliable data capture, control, and safety.

  • Ensures all the controls the driver may interact with in the cockpit are reachable, safe, and ergonomic. Develops the steering wheel assembly, driver’s seat, and pedalbox assembly.

EUFS was founded in 2014 by a number of hard-working alumni students, many of whom are still involved with team development today.

The Mechanical team has evolved substantially since its inception, continually refining and innovating to enhance the performance and reliability of the EUFS car. Our strength lies in the technical expertise and adaptability of our members, who design, analyse, and manufacture key systems such as the chassis, suspension, drivetrain, and braking with precision and creativity.

We welcome students with a passion for engineering, hands-on fabrication, and problem-solving, offering opportunities to develop practical skills and contribute to every stage of the car’s development.
